Today is my roommate's birthday. Last night was Round 1. I made Lowcountry Boil and a cake. Some of our closest friends came over. Tonight, we are all going to the Riverdogs game. It is Thirsty Thursday. $1 beers...holla! Round 3 on Friday has not been completely planned but we know it will involve Taco Boy and Folly Beach.
I apologize for my absence. I came home, home on Tuesday. And, when I am home I don't think about anything or than relaxing. Thoughts of school and blogging go out the window. But, I must share with y'all my Friday Fancies and my plans for tonight. I promise I will post on my NASCAR adventure very soon. Those of you who are friends with me IRL or on the Book have already seen the some of the shenanigans from last weekend.
Tonight, the Swinging Medallions will be playing at the local Farmer's Market shed. I grew up listening to the Swingin' Medallions and other beach music bands with my parents. Beach Music is a special variety of music only found in coastal states of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and some parts of Virginia. The Medallions are from the Greenwood, SC area. They have been around since the late 1960s. My dad was friends with some of the original band members. The sons and close relatives of the original band members make up the now-Medallions. And not just any dance will do for this kind of music...you have to be shaggin'. {see here}
Here is the Medallions performing their most famous song "Double Shot of My Baby's Love" last year...
Though, {av} is off to California for vacation...here is still my Friday Fancies for this week.
Rather than actually dancing the night away {I really wish I was}, I will be working the beer truck. Gotta make them dolla dolla bills. My mom is good friends with the lady that is the head of the Chamber of Commerce, who is putting on the event. Therefore, I got volunteered to work. Somewhat complaining and somewhat not complaining....I will be getting paid {plus tips}, yet it won't be near as fun as dancing all night.
Y'all got anything excited planned this weekend?
I get to spend all day tomorrow with my little man and I am so excited. We are going to swim in the pool all day. He will be good and tired for his mom...she will love it!
Everyone loves a good wedding. The wedding I attended the weekend before last was a wonderful celebration of love and a reunion of great friends.
I lived on the sorority hall with Cate when I was a Freshman. We lived together again my Junior year with four other girls. Six girls in one house with two bathrooms. My bedroom was actually the dining room.
Cate and Ed started dating at the beginning of her Sophomore year of college. I have seen them grow as a couple and watch their love for each other grow. I was honored to be her stand-in bride at the rehearsal. The wedding was in Holly Hill, SC {Cate's hometown}. No worries if you don't know where Holly Hill is...you shouldn't. It is literally in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by corn and cotton fields.
The rehearsal dinner was held at one of Cate and Ed's friends' house. The weather was perfect.

Chris and Cate went to high school together. All three of us went to Carolina together. Chris and I are now in law school together.
Cate's love for Carolina is even greater than mine. We even had a miniature Cocky come and surprise her at the reception.
They played 2001 {Carolina's football entrance song}, the fight song, and Sandstorm.
Singing Shades
And happily ever after...
Overall, it was a beautiful wedding. Everyone had a great time. I miss being with my sisters all the time. I wish we all lived close by so we could see each other all the time. Or maybe we can have "weddings" every weekend?!
Exams are over, my paper just needs a few finishing touches, and I am a 3L!!
First of all, a big thanks to all of my guest bloggers this week. Y'all were lifesavers! I loved everyone of y'all's posts. Secondly, thanks to everyone's wonderful comments about seeing my ex. Things went really well. Everyone was civil and I even got a "hello" and "how are you." I kept my distance for most of the weekend, because I was having too much fun catching up with my sorority sisters. I will post pictures soon, promise.
Now for the a weekend of celebrations! End of exams and America's victory over terrorism. Today, we are having a end of the exams party at Midtown. Midtown is the equivalent of Cheers for us law students. We are having a good ole' lowcountry pig pickin'. My dad actually doing all the cooking. He has a fancy competition style grill. He has been cooking since early this morning. I can't wait to eat some delicious BBQ. Nothing like your daddy's cookin'.
Today's Friday's Fancies is the perfect outfit to wear to a BBQ if money was a not a question. Head over and tell {av}.
Tomorrow, I will be attending the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. My friends and I will be celebrating all things American. AH YEAH! I can't wait to share pictures with y'all!

Now for some exam season by the numbers:
During one 48 hour period, I was running on about 6 hours of sleep.
I went through close to 10 highlights.
I have zero printing money left.
I filled up 5 yellow steno papers with notes from the semester.
All 40 of my free Pandora hours for May are used.
My Title IX paper topped out at about 6,500 words/27 pages.
And, most importantly I drank 44 Diet Cokes.
Congratulations to Allie {Sundresses and Smiles}! She correctly guessed 44 on the button.
Email me your address and I will send you your ultimate movie pack.
In all actuality that number should be much higher. I didn't count refills at restaurants. Nor the plentiful bourbon and diets, I drank this past weekend. Well because frankly I don't remember how many I had. Sorry for partying.
Speaking of partying...What does any good law student do after finishing their last exam? Head straight to their favorite bar.
Lake Frances hoodrats
4 of the 8 race attendees...awkward photo...and I "like" it.
Today's guest post is brought y'all by Allie over at Sundresses and Smiles. I absolutely love her blog. She is the sweetest thang! She, herself, is wrapping up finals and was kind enough to guest post for me. I completely agree with her that if we knew each other in real life we would be good friends. Allie has put together a great summer playlist. She picked all these songs I have to confess I have all of them on my iTunes. Summer songs are the best because they definitely take me back to wonderful memories with my friends and family.
Hello to all you Soulshine readers out there! My name's Allie and I'm so glad to meet you!
I first discovered Soulshine after blogging for just a few days. My first thought was-- "Why didn't I think of a cool title like that?" next came, "Let's face it Allie, you're not quite cool enough to pull off a title like Soulshine!" Ashton, I have realized, however, is TOTALLY cool enough! Since first finding her blog it has become one of my daily reads and I am confident that if Ashton and I knew each other in the "real world" we would be good friends! That being said, when she asked me to guest post I was thrilled and quite flattered.
Then came my next thought...WHAT will I post about? Well..I'm typing this now as a break from studying for finals. What I want more than anything right about now is for it to be summer! Put me on a dock with a cool drink in my hand and I'd be in heaven right about now. In my dreams about summer, I find myself listening to my favorite summer tunes over and over, and thought this would be the perfect place to share them. Isn't it funny how a song can completely transform you to a certain place or time? I hope these get y'all as pumped for warm weather and freedom as I am!
"All Summer Long" by Kid Rock
This song makes me think of riding around with the windows down and music blasting!
"In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry
I just think of splashing around at the beach when I hear this!
"Summer Girl" by Leighton Meester
I'm totally a summer girl!
"Ticks" by Brad Paisley
Brad Paisley is my dream man and this reminds me of his concert I attended 2 summers ago!
"Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffett
Margaritas are one of my summer staples!
"Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves
This is my theme song for the summer with the kids I nanny.
"Everyday" by Dave Matthews Band
DMB is often played during my midnight boat rides with family and friends at Lake Gaston!
Hope you enjoyed these! Please stop by my blog and say hi! What's on your summer playlist?
Today's guest post is by {av} from Long Distance Loving. I was fortunate to meet {av} a few weeks ago when she came to Charleston for a wedding. {here} {av} is one of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure of meeting. She and her blog add a little happiness to life everyday. Her post is all about pineapples. For those of you not familiar with the symbol of the pineapple, it represents hospitality.
South Carolina is known for its "Smiling faces and beautiful places." Charleston is known for its all around hospitality. There is even a huge pineapple fountain off the battery.
Hi! My name is {av} and I'm the blogger behind {long distance loving}! I am a longtime fan of Ashton, the beautiful lady behind Soulshine, who is also one of my Friday's Fancies Faithful. I was even lucky enough to meet her last month on a visit to Charleston :) She's as sweet as they come!
Pineapples are a sign of hospitality, which are often spotted in southern decor. In honor of Ashton's southern roots, I decided to pull together a few of my favorite pineapple pieces, which could also make great gifts! Whether they're notecards or good smelling goodies, the word pineapple should hopefully evoke that warm and fuzzy southern hospitality.
It is graduation season! Many of you collegians will be graduating this weekend.
Everyone is searching for that perfect graduation present. I personally enjoy just getting money. Somewhat awful right? I love all presents, but money lets me pick my own "gift."
I am one to search high and low for presents. I like pick out things that are specific for that person. Whether it is something that we have shared together or something that "so them." Ever the sentimental gift-giver.
How many of you ordered a college ring or even a high school ring? I ordered both. I wore my high school through my freshman year of college. I got my Carolina ring midway through my junior year and still wear it today. I love the style of our ring - very simple and classic.
So are you looking for that perfect present or know a recent grad or a grad in general and wondering what to get them for their birthday?
How about a school ring plaque?
A local Charleston artist, Marty Murray, started Sports Fan Traditions. He creates replicas of college and university rings.
Several colleges and universities have been approved and others are pending approval. He takes requests for new schools.
I am thinking this would be a great Father's day gift, too.
