WILW

I love me some What I am Loving Wednesday! Link up with Jamie.

I'm loving my most recent masterpiece from Bottles n' Brushes.  Bottles n' Brushes is an art studio in Mt. Pleasant that guides you through a different painting each night.  While you paint you can sip on your favorite wine and munch on your favorite snack.  My roommate - Heather, a friend from law school - Caroline, and I went last night.  We are far from Picassos, but we had fun nonetheless.

With our masterpieces...I love how everyone's looks different!
I'm loving that I will be in D.C. tomorrow!  As I mentioned last week, I am heading to D.C. tomorrow on a law school field trip.  I will be attending the Conservative Political Action Conference.  I am obsessed fascinated with all things D.C.  I interned in Summer 2007.  Ever since, I have been dying to get back up there to work, live, and play.

I have this map almost memorized. I miss quality public transportation.

I wish I could share with y'all some of my pictures from that summer, but they are not on my current computer.  I had a wonderful time, loved the work I did, and made some amazing friends.  We still keep in touch today.  Not surprising at all, five of us (out of our group of eight) are in law school.  I lived two blocks from the blue/orange line stop at Foggy Bottom - basically George Washington University - in the heart of the District.  I was walking distance to Georgetown (during the day), and spent many afternoons shopping on M Street.  Our group discovered all the decent happy hours, because it is too expensive to drink any other time.  I got to take an after-hours tour of the West Wing and got to peak into the Oval Office. Swwooonnn!  I was there for the 4th of July and it was nothing less than spectacular.  Every American should experience the 4th of July in the nation's capital.

I'm loving my organic mani/pedi that I got today using my Groupon.

I'm loving this kid...

I promise you that my future son or daughter will don a similar outfit around the age of six.

I'm loving that baseball seasons starts next week!

I'm loving these words...

Hope everyone had a a lovely Wednesday!  And, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  I will try to blog, if I have time, this weekend.  If not I will see y'all on Sunday!

Soulfully,
Ashton

Weekend Recap

Woo! It was a busy weekend.
First off, my hour drive home got turned into an almost two hour drive.  Highway 17 between Charleston and home is a treacherous stretch of road.  Thankfully, they are in the process of making it better.  But there was a horrible wreck with an eighteen-wheeler.  Luckily, no one was injured.  Nonetheless, I had to be detoured completely out of my way.

Then, it was prom dress shopping on Saturday.  I wish I had pictures of this place and the dress but they do  not allow photography! I couldn't find her exact dresses on-line, but this one is very similar.  She got the royal blue.  After trying on dress for three hours, we left with the first dress she tried on. Typical.

Saturday night, I meet a close friend from home for a movie and dinner.  We saw No Strings Attached.  It is hilariousssss! Like pee your pants funny.  If you have not seen, GO!  It is a great romantic comedy, heavy on the comedy.

Super Sunday! Way to go Pack!
My friend Chris had a party providing food and bev for everyone, as long as you cheered for the Packers.  I was okay with that, because I don't have a "team" in the NFL.
Happy Fella!

Aaron Rodgers putting on his belt.

Now, football is over until Saturday, September 3, 2011 when Carolina takes on East Carolina in Charlotte, NC. Sad day!

Now for my favorite part of the Super Bowl...the commercials.  Ever wonder what a waste of $20 million looks like, well you saw it last night with some of those car ads.  These would be my Top Five:

As for the halftime show, it was, eh, okay.  My favorite still is from 10 years ago with Aerosmith and N'Sync.  How about Christina's whoopss on the National Anthem?

What were your favorite commercials?  Thoughts on halftime?

Ronald Reagan would be 100-years-old today, February 6, 1911-June 5, 2004.
He was one of our most influential Presidents.  He stood for prosperity, growth, and equality.

Stylish Blogger

I have received my second Stylish Blogger Award.  I was very excited when I received it.  Thanks Frankie for making my day!

Here are 7 somewhat interesting things about me:

1. I am a first generation college graduate, therefore, I will be the first lawyer in my family.  My Dad went to USC, too, but he did not graduate.

2. I am convinced that I will never be able to live less than thirty minutes away from a sizable body of water.  Preferably salt water.

3.  I don't have a sweet tooth.  I don't like chocolate unless there is peanut butter in the center.  Brownies do nothing for me.  The smell of chocolate turns my stomach.  However, if you put a red velvet cake in front of me....I will eat the ENTIRE cake in one sitting. DONE.

4. No matter how old I get, my favorite ice cream will always be vanilla with rainbow sprinkles.  I have sophisticated tastes.

5. I am sure many of you were named after your grandmother, great-grandmother or some other close family relative.  Not me.  My parents got my name from a fictional/theatrical character, Miss Ashton Main from the North & South.  And, she was a selfish botch!  Thanks Mom and Dad!  No, really, I love my name and its uniqueness.  Even though I get mail all the time addressed to Mr. Ashton D.  Or the line, "You mean like Kutcher." Yeah, sorry it wasn't funny the first time nor the 100+ times after that.

6. My dream job is to be First Lady. Yes, I just went there.  My future husband is also a future Mr. President.

7.  There are only two magazines that I read regularly...Garden & Gun and Real Simple.

Friday Fancies: Take 2

We made it!!! T.G.I.F.

I am linking up with {av} for Friday Fancies.  This Friday Fancy is coming a week early.

Explanation:
Next Thursday, I will hopping on a plane and heading to Washington, D.C. for the weekend.  I will be attending CPAC...and I am so excited!!  Therefore, I will probably not be able to blog about it next week.  This will be my first trip back to D.C. since I interned at the Department of Labor in Summer 2007.  I decided that this trip deserved a new suit.  I also justified it as being an investment.  I can't look sloppy in the courtroom.

The Limited is my go-to for suits and work clothes.  Every twenty-something lady should own at least one suit.  It is as essential as the LBD.  Whether it is for an interview, conference, or community meeting.

I apologize for being so boring, but these outfits will soon fill my everyday life.  Thank goodness, I like wearing them.

WILW

Wednesday is quickly coming my favorite my second favorite day of the week.  All because of Miss Jamie!

I'm loving that my roomie decided to join the blogosphere!! She has started Honeysuckle Vines...please check her out.

I'm loving Mr. Groundhog for not seeing his shadow.  Spring weather is near!
Bill Murray in Groundhog Day
I'm loving National Signing Day and all the great athlete joining Gamecock Nation. Now, if Mr. Clowney would go ahead and pick the Garnet and Black, I would be a happy girl!

I'm loving that the Super Bowl is this weekend.  One of my closest guy friends is a huge Packers fan, and he has graciously throwing a party for all our friends with keg and food provided.  ONLY condition on attending is that you have to cheer for the Pack.

I'm loving all the new commercials that will rolled out on Sunday!  I don't know what I like more the commercials or the football.

I'm loving this song by Zac Brown Band and his duet with Jimmy Buffett.  Oh, by the way, Jimmy is doing fine after his fall last week.

I'm loving these words to live by...

Happy Wednesday, Y'all! =)

Ashton

Sisterly Love

My sister and I are seven years apart.  23 and 16.  Second-year law student and high school sophomore.  Living on my own and living in my old bedroom.  Logical thinker and creative soul.  Single and young "love."

My sister and I are complete, well, almost complete opposites.  Independent and stubborn.  Dreamers.  Witty and sarcastic.  Out going and personable.  Fashionable.

To say that my sister and I fought growing up would be a gross understatement.  We fought worse than most brothers fight, and still do at times, though it has gotten A LOT better.  The age difference probably had something to do with it.  I moved out of the house and went to college when my sister was starting the fifth grade!  What in the world would we had in common?

As she is in high school, now, we have found common ground in many things. Fashion. Music. Movies. Goals. Life Outlook.  I find myself going to her for all the "hip" trends and the random songs I hear on the radio that I have no clue who sings them.  We both have an on going love affair with J.Crew.  I have introduced to her classics like Blue Brothers and Casablanca.  Her ipod has songs by Van Morrison and OAR (she wasn't, even,  in elementary school when they first came out).

She is destined to be an artist in Greenwich Village.  Her artistic ability is unreal.  My drawings are limited to anorexic stick figures.  Whatever she decides to do it will be her own, because she doesn't follow the crowd.  She walks to her own beat.

Over Christmas, she introduced me to the wonders of Arie.  It is the sister store to American Eagle.  I have not shopped in American Eagle since I was in high school.  I thought Arie was just the intimate apparel of American Eagle. But, I was wrong.  They carry their own clothes and makeup.  They were running a deal on their eye shadows (3 for $15 and they were regularly $7.50 a piece).  I got two and Ains got one.  They are great for everyday or an night out.

Secondly, I got some "hand-me-down" boots from her.  We may no means wear the same size clothes, but we do have the same shoe size.  I call them "hand-me-down" boots, because Ains has had them for two years and worn them once.  I wondered into my old closet her closet and found them.  They were barely any scuff marks on them.  I flat out told her they were mind now. Love you, Ains!

Yes, those are rolled up magazines.  Perfect solution to slouchy boots.
I have worn them a couple times after I adverse possessed them.
Anyway, I love my sister! I know she will be successful in whatever she decides to do. Starving artist, lobbyist, or doctor.

Any sibling "rivalries" out there?
Soulfully,
Ashton
