Hidden Treasures

My paper is DONE!! Whooot Whooot!
It made for such a relaxing weekend to have it behind me.
However, I got an email late last night saying they were going to extend the deadline another week. NOT PLEASED!  I am not a fan of slackers.  But, it does given me a second editing process if I feel the need for one.

Now for a little weekend recap...
Remember that little prediction from Friday that I expected some unexpected nights...well not so much.
I met up with friends on Friday to celebrate a close friends birthday.  It was an all around fun night.  Nothing too exciting happened.  Just a great evening surrounded by great friends.  Plenty of jokes and smiles.

Goofing off...and my typical picture face

JWaitt, me and Stokes...my best pals from HS

The boys...it was Drew's (navy shirt in front) Birthday

The roomie 'likes' this!
Saturday, the roomie and I did a little shopping.  We went to the Towne Centre in Mt. Pleasant.  We made two quick stops at Gap and Ulta.  I have always gone to Gap for the basics, but here lately I have been pleasantly surprised with their stuff.  They have definitely stepped up their line.  Here are a few things I picked up...

Tuxedo Cardigan on sale for $45 with an additional 30% off.
Got this top in chocolate brown
My "scandalous" tank with open back
After battling a mild migraine early on Saturday evening, I decided to stay in for the night.  And, get this I got a total of nine hours of sleep.  It was glorious!  The rest of my long weekend was spent running errands, tidying the house, and getting ready for the week ahead.  I feel so prepared for my week now.
Sunday night, a few of us took advantage of Restaurant Week and went to Red's.  Plans changed from Friday.  Dinner was yummy and the company was even better.
(A full Restaurant Week recap to come)

This weekend, I discovered that staying in makes be just as happy a girl as going out.  This might become a trend and it will help out my wallet.

Soulfully,
Ashton

I'm a Snake...

I can be entertained by YouTube videos for hoursss.  And, I am usually the last to find out about the latest "it" video.

My roommate's boyfriend shared this gem of a video with me, today.  So, I thought I would share it with y'all.

It is so disturbing/weird that it is funny.  It is, also, the reason why my children will play outside, build forts and such, and make "mud pies"...like I did.  They will also have imaginary, as well as, real friends to play with.

Apparently, this guy is some comedian, but I have never seen him before.  I, personally, think he is on something.

Why do people feel the need to post themselves doing this stuff on YouTube?

Soulfully,
Ashton

5QF - Weekend to Come

TGIF!

Today at 5:00, I will turn in my law review article...I just hope it's done!

This Friday is somewhat extra special.  It kicks off the weekend of several friend's birthdays, various out-of-town friends coming in town, and my favorite week - Charleston Restaurant Week.
During Restaurant Week, the restaurants around town run specials like a 3-course meal for $30 or 3-course meal for $20.
A group of us have made plans to go to Rita's on Folly Beach this weekend.  The first course of their special is a bucket of beer! Hollaaa! Then two entrees and two desserts all for $30!! YES PLEASE!

Prediction for the weekend: Chilled out days with unexpected nights!
Thank goodness for an extra day to recover.

On to Five Question Friday...

1. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get tired of?
Oh, I don't think I can pick just one!  My Top Five Favorite Movies:
  1. Gone With the Wind - because Scarlett is dumb for not following Rhett back to Charleston, and yes I have read the book (a couple of times)
  2. Dirty Dancing - because who can resist Patrick Swayze?
  3. Casablanca - "Here's looking at you, Kid."
  4. Remember the Titans - I just love this movie!
  5. Animal House - this is my Dad's favorite movie and I grew up watching it with him, so now it makes my list.

2. What's your biggest pet peeve right now?
Rude, inconsiderate people - ya know those people that only think of themselves and don't take into a count how their actions may effect others.  Also, those people who have self-entitlement issues. Guess what...you deserve no more than me or any other person in this world! Okay vent over!

3. If you had to describe your best friend in five words or less, what would you say?
Listener, dependable, partner-in-crime, comical, and supporter

4. If you did not have to worry about money or go to school what would you do for a living?
I would probably do exactly what I am doing, because with the amount of debt I will have after law school - money really wasn't a question.  Though, I have always said I would be a "jam-up" personal assistant to someone because I micro-manage everything and my planner is impeccable!

5. What is your one "splurge" item, that you will always buy, no matter the cost?
I don't have one particular "splurge" item.  I don't have a shoe, purse, make-up, or accessory obsession.  I tend to just splurge on different things when the time is right if its something I have been eyeing for awhile.

If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for quotes.  They are awesome reminders I like to carry with me.  I am currently crushing on these two:

So here is sending you love and a BIG hug! Happy Weekend!

Ashton

Laughter is the best cosmetic...so grin and wear it!

I am a huge fan of Benefit Cosmetics
All of my make-up except by foundation comes from Benefit.
I love everything about it, even down to their great packaging and fun names for their products.
The name of this post came from a cute travel mirror I have.
I have never been disappointed in any of their products and recommend you putting something from their line in your daily routine.

Their website is fantastic.  They have "Beauty School" that give you tutorials on different looks.  They also recommend different looks for different skin types.
Most Ulta locations have the Benefit boutique and brow bar.

I would like to share two of my favorite products from Benefit.

I have to be honest...I was skeptical at first when this one came out.
It is called "Stay Don't Stray." It is a primer for your under-eye concealer and eye shadow.
They claimed it will make your eye shadow last all day and you will no need to reapply before heading out for the evening! YEAHHHH Right!
Well, it works!  I was shocked the first day I used it.  I wear contacts and have awful dry eyes, so I tend to rub them alllotttt.  My shadow was still holding strong when I went to bed that night.

The second is a cheek stain called "Benetint."  You apply this to the apples of your cheeks before you apply your blush.  It gives you that rosy, "Scarlet O'Hara" cheek look.  It helps keep your blush from fading.  I wear it by itself on days when I don't feel like putting much make-up on.  It gives the faintest hint of color to your cheeks.

With every online purchase, Benefit sends you two free samples.  They offer free shipping on all orders over $50 (PRETTY50).  Right now they are offering a free, "Realness of Concealness," with all orders over $85 (REAL2011).

Do you have any favorite Benefit products? If not, let me know if you try one...I warn you its easy to get addicted to it!

Lastly, I would like to share a giveaway with you.  MLD at California Born and Virginia Raised is having a great giveaway! One lucky girl (or guy, I guess) will get this...

Longchamp Coin Purse

AND
$25 Nordstrom Gift Card
YES! I would really like to win this!

Happyyy Thursdayyy!

Ashton

WILW

Happy Wednesday y'all!

I am very happy its Wednesday because that means the bulk of my school work is done!

As to what else I am loving this Wednesday...

I am loving Nikki Haley being inaugurated as the first female governor of South Carolina today!

I am loving my new fleece that I purchased with some leftover Christmas money.  The one I really wanted must have been the hot-ticket item this year, because it no where to be found in any (normal) size. So, I settled for a different, yet similar color.  My mom was so proud when I told her I got because it has pink accents.
This is the one I wanted.

This is the one I got.
I am loving my new planner from my agenda.  It was a little pricey to being with but with a discount on the website and an additional 10% off that I snagged after some research, it was only $20.  I got it in a chocolate color and had it personalized.
I am loving/going to love my Higher Education Law class this semester. It it being taught by the Dean of our law school.  He makes references to Animal House during class. WIN!!

I am loving this quote.  It just makes me laugh.  You just have to work with what ya got and make something of it.
Wishing everyone a Happy Wednesday...We can almost see Friday and another three day weekend for most of us!! Whooo!

Soulfully,
Ashton

Snow(less) Day

I apologize, now, for the randomness of this post.  First, today was suppose to be my first day back from Christmas break, but like most of you across the South, classes and work were cancelled today.  Living in Charleston means you can't leave your house when a wintery mix comes through.  Anywhere you need to go is only accessible via a bridge.  Those signs "Bridge Ices Before Road" are true.  There were close to ten accidents this morning before they closed the bridges.  I have accomplished nothing today.  I have been preoccupied with instant movies, online shopping, and Soap Network.  Though it has been nice to lay around the house today, I wish there would have been actual snow.

I would like to give a shout-out to two of my bloggy friends (both named Jen(n)) that currently have giveaways going on.  First is Jen at Slumber Designs (she also writes Bits of Truth).  She is giving away a $75 gift certificate to Emerson Made.  They offer some unique, boutique-style clothing and accessories.  I am just in love with these clutches...

Second is Jenn at Jenn's Journey.  She is giving away Bath & Body Works Wallflower set and a Starbucks gift card.  Who does love a lovely smelling abode and Starbucks??

This past weekend, I wished farewell to a friend who is starting a new journey in her life.  Kitty has accepted her dream job internship with Invisible Children in San Diego.  I wish you the best Kitty! I know you will rock at your new position.
CML, Kitty, EHood, and Me
I love the ladies of Windy!

Last but not least, the 2010-2011 college football season will be coming to a close tonight. *TEAR*  I am not excited about this because it means I will actually have to do schoolwork on Saturdays rather than watch football all day.  However, it does mean that opening day of baseball season is right around the corner.  Despite, my honest dislike of sCam Newton - yes, I do believe he accepted money to play ball - I will be pulling for Auburn in the hopes of the SEC winning a fifth straight National title.
Scammie Wammie, Weagle, Weagle...WAR DAMN EAGLE!

First Blogger Award: Stylish Blogger

My real life and blogger friend Megan (My Two Cents) gave me the Stylish Blogger Award. Thanks Boo!

Megan and I have been friends since before high school.  Her boyfriend and I actually graduated together.
Most of our close friends from high school have all made our to Charleston for work, grad school, and/or college.  It is so nice to have everyone back together and that we have remained close friends since leaving high school.

A few of us out one night

Here are the rules
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award to stylish bloggers you've recently discovered.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about this award.

1. Like every other child in America, I had the chicken pox around the age of four.  I remember getting them after going to the circus.  I had a very mild case of them.  Well, there was one on the middle of my forehead right above my eyes.  It drove my nuts, so of course, I had to pick at it.  This picking left me with a pretty sweet scar.  Even then, my mom was concerned about it.  She talked to my pediatrician and he said that as I grew it would move up into my hairline.  He was wrong!  It now sits near the bridge of my nose right between my eyes.  The summer before my Senior year of high school and prior to taking Senior pictures, my mom said to me that she thought I needed to go to the plastic surgeon to see about getting my scar removed.  I asked her if she was CRAZY!  "Well, Ashton, you don't want that scar in your Senior pictures...I mean you will have those pictures for the rest of your life." My response: "I will have this scar for the rest of my life, too!"

2.  I eat peanut butter by the spoonful.  I am talking tablespoons at a time.  And, it has to be JIF, creamy not crunchy.

3. I have known I wanted to go to law school since I was in elementary school.  Thinking all through high school and most of college that I wanted to become a prosecutor.  That all changed when I started taking classes for my minor, economics.  YES, people I have a sick and twisted mind! I enjoy economics, finance, and accounting.  I have decided that I want to be a tax attorney and go for yet one more year of school to get my LL.M.  A LL.M is basically a Masters of Law and specializes you in a particular area of the law.  I am so cool I want to read tax code for the rest of my life.  What is wrong with me??!!!??

4. So, I am not a very sappy, emotional girl.  I tend not to cry during love stories with the Notebook being an exception.  Even though there is no crying in baseball...
I tear up at the end of most sports movies, no matter how many times I have seen them.  I saw Remember the Titans in theaters three times and cried every time.  Don't even get me started on Rudy...
And give me a good USA, USA, USA chant...and bring on the waterworks....

5.  With my given love for sports, I was a cheerleader in high school.  I would have thrown on some pads had my mom let me.  During my last game, I took one for the team, literally.  Our squad was facing the stands.  I was on the outside of our formation.  We were not concerned about the play on the field because they were a good 30-40 yards from where we were.  Well, low and behold, we had a breakaway run down the sidelines.  The safety/cornerback is running our guy down and tackles him out of bounds....BUT who does he take out with him as well...ME!  I get nailed in my right side, legs get cut from under me, and land flat on my back.  Luckily, it was grass I was landing on and not a track.  This was near the beginning of the fourth quarter.  I blacked out and came to after a little while.  The trainer tried to check me out and get me to seat down, but I insisted on cheering the rest of the game.  Yet, I don't remember a darn thing between the time I got hit and walking off the field after shaking heads with the other team.  Injuries: minor concussion and a few bruised ribs.

6.  I am a Republican and have always been very active in politics/campaigning.  I attended the 2008 Republican National Convention as a Page.  I was on the convention floor to help out where ever I was needed - handing out signs, distracting the cameras from the crazy Ron Paul people, and advance set-up.  I also participated in various community events in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
With Joe Wilson...Joe is my Congressman
Last night of the Convention...and yes we had to wear the scarf

There are Republicans in Hollywood.
7.  My love for Jimmy Buffett and the island life is borderline unhealthy.  I own and have read all of his books but one, Swine Not?.  Even re-read some.  My dog is named after a character in Salty Piece of Land.  I have over 90 of his songs on my iPod and I know all the words.  I didn't come on this obsession my chance...it runs in my family.  My father-daughter dance will be to "Little Miss Magic."  I am determined to locate the Port of Indecision and the Southwest of Disorder.
